Helioakmi MegaSun 2 Solar Water Heater, 160 litres, 2.62 m² glass, Dual-Energy
The new generation of MEGASUN 2 (2023) robotic production systems is the latest generation of solar panels from HELIOAKMI and combines unique advantages:
His boiler MEGASUN 2 It is more durable over time, particularly in hard water, as it has a triple enamel coating using materials meeting the specific specifications of Ferro France.
All boilers MEGASUN 2 hold an Australian WaterMark drinking water certificate.
The collector MEGASUN 2 It features a special selective titanium surface from Tinox, Germany (absorbance 95% ± 2%), thereby offering greater efficiency in winter and at sub-zero temperatures, even during prolonged periods of overcast weather.
Sturdy galvanised support base (weighing 26 kg) made from shaped sheets 2.5 and 3 millimetres thick, thus ensuring easy and safe installation of the solar water heater with excellent durability.
The water storage tank is equipped with internal enamel coating, which forms a coating on the inside of the container throughout and is produced by applying enamel (glass) to metal. This results in rust-proof, as the water does not come into contact with the walls, thus ensuring a constant supply of clean drinking water.
Tank Specifications
Outer casing: anodised aluminium, which is particularly resistant to UV rays, humid climates and coastal areas.
Cloak: Its innovative design, made from cold-rolled low-carbon steel, 1.5 mm thick, for the closed circuit guarantees stable operation even in freezing conditions, whilst also protecting the collectors from the risk of becoming blocked by limescale.
Thermal insulation: expanded eco-friendly polyurethane, 50 mm thick and high-density (43 kg/m³) which ensures the consumer has more hot water for use, minimises heat loss and maintains the hot water temperature, even when the outside temperature is 30°C below zero.
Inner container: cold-rolled steel (low-carbon steel), 2.5 mm thick, in accordance with the DIN 4800-5. This means the tank can withstand mains water pressure twice as well as most standard solar water heaters, over time and in areas with particular water quality issues.
Container protection: is achieved by Duro Smalt Elastic. This innovative protective method is considered the most suitable due to its resistance to very hard water and its elastic properties, enabling it to accommodate the tank’s expansion and contraction, thereby avoiding the risk of cracks that occur in most tanks with different types of enamelling protection.
Cathodic protection: a magnesium anode for effective internal protection against corrosion and salt deposits caused by electrolysis reactions.
Electric resistance up to 4 kW: made of copper in accordance with the regulations of the country of destination. (Optional: for the use of electricity as an auxiliary power source).
Thesafety switch: four-pin bipolar connector.
Collector
Its collector has area 2.62m², capable of produces up to 262 litres of domestic hot water. It is selective, the type most commonly used in solar water heaters in recent years. It has lower heat losses than a simple collector, and therefore offers greater efficiency.
It also features a special titanium coating, which minimises heat loss and offers better performance and greater economy.
Collector Specifications
Profile: It has four ventilation holes which are covered in such a way as to be completely watertight, so that rainwater cannot enter.
Selective absorber: brass channels (∅10 and ∅22) with a selective titanium coating, which are welded using the ultrasonic method. This innovative welding method ensures complete heat transfer and enables the solar collector to achieve the highest possible efficiency and durability.
Background: anodised aluminium, which is particularly resistant to harsh conditions.
Special safety glass: Tempered safety glass (3.5 mm thick) for high light transmission and strength, resistant to adverse weather conditions (e.g. hail, extreme temperature fluctuations).
Thermal insulation: robust side and rear insulation (20 mm glass wool & 35 mm rock wool), which minimises heat loss in areas with low seasonal temperatures.
Glazing insulation: EPDM rubber and transparent silicone.
Dual-action
It is dual-mode, meaning it can operate in two ways: solar-powered ή using electricity. This means that inside the water container there is a electrical resistance, so that on days when there is little sunshine due to cloud cover, you can switch your solar water heater to electric power and always have hot water.
Maintenance of a Solar Water Heater
Regular maintenance of the solar water heater optimises quality, hygiene and its operational performance, whilst also saving on energy consumption. To ensure the solar water heater operates properly, it requires regular maintenance by a specialist team. The necessary steps for maintaining a solar water heater are:
Checking the level of the solar fluid and topping it up where necessary.
Inspection and repair of the insulation on the solar system’s local pipework.
Monitoring and adjusting the magnesium anode to prevent limescale build-up inside the solar water heater.
